Silicon Carbide Batts, Plates, Tiles and Shelves
Page Navigation
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Batts (otherwise known as plates, tiles or shelves) are used as a basic support element in most kiln and furnace structures, forming a flat, rigid surface which carries the ware during firing, sintering or heat treatment. Flat, strong, and dependable, they are used throughout the ceramic industry for a range of applications (including biscuit, decorative and glost firings for tableware and sanitaryware manufacturers, as well as many other applications and industries).
Compared to traditional cordierite batts, silicon carbide batts are suitable for applications involving higher temperatures and heavier loads. They can also be specified for applications which require thinner batts for weight and energy saving purposes, reducing their mass and energy consumption.
