What We Know

Our designers, technicians and support network – with its main centres in Europe, Asia and North America – have between them hundreds of years of experience in the refractories field.

They have a thorough knowledge of the materials involved and what processes – chemical, thermal, mechanical – are needed to achieve top quality, high performance refractory components for today’s lean manufacturing environment.

IPS Ceramics has both an in-house Design Team and in-house Quality Control Team with skills sets to provide tough, technically superior products which fit the very particular in-service requirements encountered across the board.

From porcelain dinnerware to bricks and blocks; from small cross-section electronic sheathing to massive cast parts; from tile to slab; from tiniest powder compact to heavy one-piece sanitaryware; from a shelf for bread to a support for a shower tray – our knowledge base goes both wide and deep.

What We Do

In order to provide the optimum solutions that will stand the test of time, our Design Team works on bespoke drawings and selects from a number of manufacturing options in order to both expertly and rapidly bring new projects to fruition.

With a heritage stretching way back into the 19th century, our familiarity with these materials and our expert evaluation of how they behave and how best to exploit them is, we believe, unrivalled. A number of our team, both here in the UK and across our global support network, have over 25 years’ continuous service in the world of high temperature ceramics – the kind of combined experience you just can’t buy.

Each customer is supported through our Sales Team on all key decision-making and is provided with day-to-day liaison and information via our Commercial Coordinators. On the technical side, we painstakingly work through design, feasibility, reworking, proving and performance on each project.

We aim to come up with the best material – or mix of materials – allied to optimum design parameters and then in most cases we manufacture the refractories and subject them to rigorous testing.

What we achieve is not only the right production method, the right profile and the right fit with our customers’ products, but also the enhanced in-service performance that is called for in harsh, high temperature environments plus maximum lifecycles for reduced cost per firing.

The result: high specification, high quality ware; energy efficiency through intelligent design; better setting configurations in kilns, furnaces and ovens; lighter overall weight; easier handling.
