Specialists in High Temperature Ceramics
Batts are refractory tiles or slabs which are typically used as part of the kiln car superstructure and which also in certain applications actually support ware during the kiln firing cycle.
IPS Ceramics manufactures batts in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. We offer Pressed Batts 1000mm x 1000mm, Extruded Batts up to 1800mm x 840mm and Circular Discs up to 1092mm dia.
We offer a range of designs to suit your individual needs:
Accessories such as props, caps, beams and fittings combine to allow a complete support system to be assembled.
These include plain batts which can be square, rectangular, shaped, circular or semi-circular, and be supplied in a varying range of size and thickness. Ribbed and grooved batts also tend to be pressed products.
A whole host of configurations are available in this range, with some batts having as few as 21 holes and others ranging right up to 186 holes. Hole diameters in the standard products range from 6mm to 32mm.
The typical options used in this range vary from an 18mm deep x 500mm wide x 600mm long batt, 25mm deep x 650mm wide x 1000mm long batt, 38mm deep x 840mm wide x 1800mm long batt and special sizes up to 80mm deep. Extruded batts have a part-hollow profile and so less energy is needed to heat each batt, they can also be perforated to allow extra heat flow. In many cases, more even heating of the ware can be achieved.
