IPS Ceramics is a manufacturer of specialist high temperature ceramics. Our products are largely based on cordierite-mullite systems which result in aluminosilicate refractory products that are strong and stable at high temperatures.
Our design and management teams now boast over 200 years’ experience in supplying industry with top quality ceramic pieces that support a whole host of manufactured products through the heat treatment process – whether that be firing, baking or sintering.
We are best known for kiln furniture and have one of the largest ranges in the world. Our deep knowledge of the materials, how they behave and how best to exploit them is backed up by an understanding of the end use groups. Our ability to adapt means we are constantly adding clients to the list.
There are multifarious end uses for our refractory products and on this website we are showing just a selection. In the majority of cases we manufacture bespoke items for our customers and last year we made around 22,000 different products.
We have a partnership with Trend Industrial Ceramics in Beijing (Asia’s largest producer of cordierite refractories) and now operate as IPS-Trend, a modern, well equipped, quality assured plant which is very much the platform for the next phase in our development.
In the UK, where the manufacture of refractories has continued for over 150 years on our site, we also operate a Rapid Prototyping Unit which is used to provide samples for approval prior to the manufacture of a new die/tool. We are currently the only company in our field in the world to offer this service.
Our rapid prototyping (or time compression technology) relies on the development of a low density, lightweight, machinable ceramic. This is already making a big difference in certain areas and is set to make further inroads from both a technical and performance angle. There will be a steady stream of novel end uses for IPS specialty ceramics.
IPS Ceramics is confident that, thanks to its wide-ranging technical resource, it will become as internationally well known and well respected in new industrial sectors as it already is in the world of kiln furniture.
